“‘This lack of transparency and accountability is deeply troubling,’ Collins wrote. ‘The current lack of reporting requirements is unacceptable and cannot be allowed to continue.’”Lawmakers and other miscreants are expert at the art of the passive voice. Their motto is "Who me?", which derives from the French "Moi?", always delivered with an air of incredulity. Let's take the quoted snippet above and analyze the Senator's likely thought process prior to delivering that magniloquent pronouncement:
‘Those motherf*cking bankers have grasped the billions of taxpayer dollars we doled out to them to ingratiate ourselves to the stupid electorate. But when the electorate wakes up to our total cluelessness, deviousness, and self-serving machinations, they will realize we didn't give a flying f*ck about the details of how that enormous amount of money would be used and whether or not it would help solve the economic problems that the poor schmucks on the street are suffering, but fortunately not us because we are both the payers and the payees. So, in order to sound Senatorial and simultaneously deflect any accountability for being a total douche bag in this matter, I need to sound like I am just as outraged about the absence of transparency, whatever the f*ck that means, and make certain that I deliver my outrage in a tone and demeanor that will make it very clear to the schmucks, because I want them to continue to send me back to this cushy job, that I mean to get to the bottom of this frickin' mess and punish all those other people for screwing everything up.’
