§ I Am Music and I Pick the Songs: Cracklin' Rosie

{Song #69 « Song #70 » Song #71}

§ ≡ One of an ongoing series of posts in which I pick, in my not-so-humble opinion, the best songs of the second millennium. Feel free to offer constructive dissenting opinions; preferably set to music.

"Cracklin' Rosie" by Neil Diamond

Song #70 is Cracklin' Rosie sung by Neil Diamond. It is a 1970 song written and performed by Neil Diamond in 1970, from his album Tap Root Manuscript. This was Neil Diamond's first American #1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 in October 1970.

This is one of my favorite "happy" songs. When I'm driving along without a destination of urgency, I occasionally play this song, and it invariably makes me smile.

In case you're wondering, Crackling Rosé is NOT a favorite of mine. And if anyone orders Merlot, I'm outta here ...
