American Broadcasting with a View

The last time I checked, Illinois was listed as one of the 50 states of the United States of America. Assuming that hasn't changed while I wasn't looking, the presumption must be that the Governor of Illinois is subject to the State Constitution, which, and I go out on a limb here, I am guessing is modeled on the Constitution of the United States.

If the above is in fact true, the Illinois Constitution specifies how the impeachment of a Governor is supposed to proceed, namely (if patterned on the U. S. Constitution) the State's lower Legislative body votes for impeachment, which is analogous to an arraignment, and the upper Legislative body (the State Senate) serves as the trial by jury (the Senators comprising the jury). Furthermore, if Illinois actually has a State Supreme Court, I presume its Chief Justice presides over the trial in the Senate.

If the above is in fact true, what on earth is all this public speculation about the fairness or lack thereof concerning Blago's trial in the Senate? It is either in accordance with the State Constitution or it is not. Must we be subjected to a "media circus", and this much abused cliche was coined explicitly for this kind of nonsense, that makes America look like the Democrat Party on steroids?

This crooked politician is "using" the MSM, they actually love being used, to generate some sort of street cred for whatever criminal activity he is contemplating after he serves his time for his likely conviction on Federal charges, after he is booted out of the Governor's office. Do we not have more important issues to consider, like, for instance, the clownish race for U. S. Senator from Minnesota? Or have we moved on to fresher fish by now? There are so many to choose from.

  1. Yes, we must be subjected to the media circus.

Just as we must be subjected to "news" like "First African-American President Takes A Piss in White House".
