“It is a natural alignment not only of strategic interests (both the U.S. and India worry about the spread of militant Islam and the rise of China) but also of ideals, since both countries are liberal democracies. That is something that George W. Bush recognized early on, and that Obama is now starting to grasp. Like all other important American alliances, it is a bipartisan relationship that can and should be nurtured regardless of which party is in power in Washington.”

Ordinarily, when Obama starts paying attention to you, it is time to secure your wallet. But it appears that his attention vis a vis India may actually be legitimate for both our countries' mutual benefit! What are the odds The Obama has had an epiphany in the wake of last week's election, namely that His Greatness Has the sworn obligation to act in the best interests of the United States?

Yes, I have been, and I continue to be, a harsh critic of The Obama's motives, which I believe never stray very far from the interests of Número Uno, AKA The One. But even a blind squirrel will stumble upon an acorn now and then, and it is not impossible that on rare occasion The Obama's personal interests will coincide with those of the United States.

Anyway, I applaud The President's attempts at fostering closer ties with India, a major player in the community of legitimate nation-states and a future economic power to rival America, China, Japan, and a handful of others.

The following is not likely to happen any time soon (certainly not while Obama is in charge), but it occurs to me that, whereas Joe "BFD" Biden's assurances of "unwavering support" for the the State of Israel aren't worth the hot air that conveys them, a similar "pie-in-the-sky" dramatic gesture by The President, calling for Israel to be granted a permanent seat on the UN Security Council, would go a long way toward reassuring Israel (at least in spirit), and put the fear of god into those who seek its annihilation. Just a random thought ...
