Yeah, we’ve got an app for that ...

Erasmus, a notable alumnusErasmus by Holbein (Image via Wikipedia)
“In the land of the blind, the one-eyed man is king.”
— Desiderius Erasmus
“In the land of hearts, diamonds, and clubs, the deuce of spades is king, provided spades is the trump suit.”
— TheBigHenry
“In the land of overwhelming numerical advantage ruled by bloodthirsty 7th-century mentality, 21st-century cleverness in science and technology (not to mention money) is king.”
— TheBigHenry

In Erasmus's famous aphorism, the implied constraint, of course, is "all else being equal". For, as important as good vision is for the human condition, it is not necessarily the unique advantage in all circumstances; perhaps not even the crucial one.

The unconstrained mind of man and woman is humanity's singular advantage in the world of the living. It has proven to be, on numerous occasions, not only the equal of the Colt-45 equalizer, but also the ace-of-trump in existential conflicts. In the latter circumstances, it is far superior to sheer numbers of scimitar-wielding homicidal maniacs supported by legions of ethnic-cleansing enthusiasts the world over.

The world will little note nor long remember what we say here, but it can never forget what the Juice have done (and will continue to do, God willing) over the millennia of contemptible persecution by hordes of homicidal ignoramuses.
