Obama's Handout Lament

{ link » Subject•Article}
“Last night I think we set a new record because it took us 45 minutes before we even started talking about a single issue that matters to the American people. Took us 45 min. 45 minutes before we heard about health care, 45 minutes before we heard about Iraq, 45 minutes before we heard about jobs, 45 minutes before we heard about gas prices."
There are only three things wrong with Obama's lament:
(1) The President of the United States does not legislate the Nation's health-care system.
(2) It is not the President's job to find you a job.
(3) The President does not regulate gas prices.

You want health care coverage? Call BlueCross/BlueShield. You want free health care? Move to Britain where no one has to pay for health care, but hardly anyone actually gets health care. Don't want to pay and don't want to wait in line forever? No problem. Use your local emergency room and ignore the bills, like all the other freeloaders do.

You want a job? Go find one. Don't have any skills? Go get some. Want a high paying job that doesn't require any skill or effort? People are dying to get those no-show jobs, but they are already spoken for.

Don't like the high gas prices? Last time I checked, we had free-market capitalism in America. I must have missed the memo about the switch to socialism. You really can't afford the gasoline you need? Find a way to need less gas: get a more efficient car; get a job that requires less driving; relocate closer to work; go on welfare. Whatever. When did this country become Handout Nation? I must have missed that memo too.

The President of the United States is the Nation's Chief Executive Officer and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, whose sworn duty is to "faithfully execute the office of President of the United States", and to "preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States". It is not the duty of the President, nor should it be, to get you free health care, a job, or low-price gasoline. Grip a f*cking get.

"Ask not what your country can do for you. Ask what you can do for your country". It was the genuinely eloquent Democrat who made that statement. But that was before we became a nation of beggars.
