Norm's post concerning a notoriously offensive remark made by a highly regarded Professor of Classics brings into glaring relief the bizarre incongruity of a brilliant scholar having a malignant spirit. Perhaps an even more striking such example is the cunning linguist, Yesam Chumpsky. The latter's excuse may be attributable to early onset Alzheimer's. The former's raison d'etre, however, might be related to gender. To wit, brilliant scholarship is not beyond the reach of a malignant c*nt.
