On the 63rd anniversary of Marshal Konev's liberation of Auschwitz, most of the civilized world commemorates the victory over what has become synonymous with evil. We note, however, that evil has not yet been eradicated, and old accounts have not yet been settled.
We also acknowledge on this occasion the vengeful manner in which Marshal Konev vanquished the German invaders. It reminds us of the ultimate fate of all human detritus. The latter includes not only the I'madinnerjackets of this world but also the purveyors of unintended consequences who are unwilling to take them seriously. The spirit of Marshal Konev's vengeance will not rest until all personification of evil has perished from the earth.
