The s-word is mightier than the pen!

"Oh, the humanity!"

I dare say many of us have been tempted to weigh in on a comments thread "inspired" by some controversial topic. I know I have. But, I am here to tell you — resist that temptation. From personal experience, I have determined it is a complete waste of time, energy, and key strokes. You will not ever see anyone acknowledge any merit in an opposing viewpoint.

And, unless you are merely exercising your argumentation skills, your efforts at presenting a cogent line of reasoning will be for naught. In point of fact, your efforts will be for less than naught; they will derive negative benefit, for you will eventually reach your frustration limit. If you persist, you will, sooner or later, encounter comments that you demolished, perhaps hundreds of comments ago. This occurs when fresh meat enters the fray, without, of course, having the decency to review the territory that has already been laid waste.

Oh, the stupidity!
