No-account Nation

I love America. Always have. I believe, without any reservation, that America the concept, the nation, and the people as a whole, are the best that humanity has evolved to date.

In my own lifetime, my favorite American leaders have been Harry (The Buck Stops Here) Truman and George W. (Stay the Course) Bush, mainly because they both embodied the one trait that is slowly but surely vanishing from our own society, as well as all others (most of which never had it) — personal accountability.

Personal liberty and political freedom aren't free. They have been purchased with the blood of patriots and are maintained by acceptance of self control and personal accountability. It is these maintenance factors that are increasingly in arrears.

The colloquialisms and cliches of a society are a fair reflection of its value system and mores: 'F*ck the other guy!' 'Who, me?' 'It's not my problem.' 'It's not my fault.' 'It's not my job.' 'I wasn't there.' 'I don't care.' 'I couldn't help it.' 'My dog ate it.' 'Bob did it.' ... Do any of these bullshit phrases sound familiar?

It is bound to get worse. The narcissism that emerged within Holyshitwood has metastasized to other population segments, including, but not limited to, mainstream media, business, Wall Street, sports, academia, and, most certainly, politics. If the no-account Presidential candidate, who is favored by our no-account Congressional leadership, our no-account media, as well as the no-account perpetually-perplexed glamor-chasing portions of our electorate, gets elected, it's going to get much worse. You can quote me.
