On the 80th anniversary of Marshal Koniev's liberation of Auschwitz, a preliminary estimate has been issued for the number of European fatalities stemming from Operation Masada: 10.8 million. The estimate was computed via Monte Carlo simulations and satellite telemetry, which pinpointed ground zero within Berlin. The numerology is striking: 1.8 eyes for an eye.
