What part of "republic" don't you understand?

There is democracy and there is not democracy. The United States is not a democracy. The United States is a Republic: a Constitutionally limited representative government (with its powers divided between three separate Branches), whose head of state is a President, and in which the supreme power lies in a body of citizens who are entitled to vote for officers and representatives responsible to them. If you were under the impression that America was a democracy, as practiced in the ancient Greek city-states, you got off at the wrong stop in your itinerary. You will have to get on a time machine, or an uninhabited island (along with other like minded individuals), or get thee to a commune. Whatever.

Our Republic is not beholden to protest rallies, no matter how large in number, or which country's flags they display. Our Republic is not beholden to political polling, no matter how scientifically conducted or statistically valid. Our Republic doesn't give a sh*t what the New York Times or any other editorial pages advocate. They can advocate whatever they wish, with the possible exception of treasonous activities, but our Republic's elected officials are not beholden to them.

Furthermore, our Republic is not beholden to non-citizens, legally or illegally living in the United States. Any of our Republic's directly elected (or appointed by them) officials are beholden to one class of people: registered voters, and only in the sense that their reelection depends on it. If you don't like what our Republic's government officials are doing, you have two options: (1) take whatever action is required to become a qualified voter, register to vote, and vote; or (2) get the f*ck out of our Republic. What part of these two options do you not understand?

  1. All that protesting, flag waving, rabble rousing, rabble carousing, rabble babble, all that noise, lack of poise, lack of purpose, lack of porpoise, etc., etc., etc. ...

It's a Republic, stupid. Nobody gives a sh*t about your protest. Vote, if you're eligible. Otherwise, shut the f*ck up.
