Be afraid. Be very afraid. And pay no attention to that man behind the curtain ...

{link » Pelosi says don't be afraid of Democrat control}
“Elect us, hold us accountable, and make a judgment and then go from there. But I do tell you that if the Democrats win, and have substantial majorities, Congress of the United States will be more bipartisan,” said Pelosi. [emphasis added]
I don't know about you, but that remark sends a tingle up my spine. Lest you misunderstand me, that kind of "tingle" connotes an entirely different sensation for me than the one made infamous by Chris Matthews’ leg.

The disingenuousness emanating from the cynical Speaker rises to the level of malevolence. Not only does it spew forth a prima facie contradiction, the smile with which it's delivered suggests the smugness of knowing that the majority of the electorate is too naive to notice.

Read my lips, which are not smiling: redistribution of wealth is tantamount to a socialist economic idea, despite Biden's dismissal of that implication as a "joke". It has been tried many times. It has never succeeded.

There are many reasons why socialism can't work. One reason I have not seen emphasized is mathematical in nature. This idea relies for its success on a fallacy that redistribution will not affect the total wealth. In other words, redistribution is assumed to be a linear process. It is not. What the short-timers fail to comprehend is that the short-term gain in wealth that represents a loss to, for example, job providers will quickly be followed by long-term shrinkage in the economy, thereby leading to much more negative consequences for everyone, especially for those who can least afford it (those who are eager to get that "incentive" check in the mail, which they will go out and spend on Christmas presents they can't afford and shouldn't be purchasing).

Full disclosure: As a retired senior, I would be one of the millions who would receive money in any redistribution-of-wealth scheme. I not only don't support any such scheme; I dread it. Because as sure as god made little green apples, it's going to ruin the economy for everyone.
