I had a hard time deciding on an appropriate title for this post. The other contenders were:
Here's the situation: The Governor of New York, Eliot Spitzer, the former New York State Attorney General, for Christ's sake, wants to allow illegal aliens to have New York State Drivers Licenses! "How is that wrong?", you might ask? Let me count the ways.
One of the principal characteristics of a Republic that distinguishes it from a democracy is that the former is Constitutionally limited. Plain and simple, the Republic of the United States is governed by a Rule of Law deriving from its Constitution, and designed specifically to protect minorities, most especially individuals, from the tyranny of the majority (to which a democracy is susceptible). This Rule of Law is the source of America's compassion for an individual's rights, guaranteed by the first ten Amendments to the Constitution, commonly referred to as the Bill of Rights, and implemented by all the specific Federal, State, and Local laws and ordinances that have been passed by the corresponding Legislatures (with concomitant signatures by the corresponding Executives, and adjudicated by the corresponding Courts of Law).
The vast infrastructure of our Rule of Law, which has evolved over centuries of trial and error (so to speak), as well as the scholarly efforts of theoreticians, philosophers, and scores of other learned individuals, is what allows a population of over 300 million individuals of varying intelligence ranging from genius (IQ > 140) to f*cking idiot (IQ < 0) to live well, by and large, in this most wonderful country of ours that truly offers every legal resident the opportunity to pursue happiness.
What happens if the Rule of Law is flaunted by a government official? It undermines the very fabric of our Republic's existence. What American, enjoying the kind of life that, arguably, is not available anywhere else in this world (a world that is under siege by rampant pernicious insanity), would knowingly want to undermine the Rule of Law? Only a f*cking idiot would want that. One who doesn't understand the "il" part of illegal.
- What part of "republic" don't you understand? Part II
- Your nose; our Nation's face; Part II
- WhatTheFark #3
- ipso facto mofo: Dude, you're a f*cking idiot (IQ < 0)
