July 2, 1917 » Murry Gage Wilson (d. 1973) American Musician and Record Producer

Murry Gage Wilson (July 2, 1917 – June 4, 1973) was an American musician and record producer, best remembered as the father of the Wilson Beach Boys, brothers Brian, Dennis, and Carl. Murry Wilson was also the manager of their band, and served as their music publisher.

    The Beach Boys

  • Original Members
    • Brian Wilson: principal founder, along with brothers Carl and Dennis, cousin Mike Love, and friend Al Jardine. Brian was the lead songwriter, bassist, and singer, as well as the band's main producer, composer, and arranger.
    • Mike Love: singer and songwriter who formed the band with his Wilson cousins and school friend Al Jardine.
    • Carl Wilson: singer and lead guitarist, as well as the co-founder with his older brothers Brian and Dennis.
    • Dennis Wilson: founding member and the drummer.
    • Al Jardine: founding member, their occasional lead vocalist, and one of their guitarists.
  • Other Members
    • David Marks: the "forgotten" Beach Boy, he played rhythm guitar and sang harmony vocals.
    • Ricky Fataar: primarily a drummer; brief tenure with The Beach Boys.
    • Blondie Chaplin: Terence 'Blondie' Chaplin had a brief stint as singer and guitarist. He was also listed as a co-producer, and sang lead vocals with Ricky Fataar on the twenty-third official album, So Tough.
    • Bruce Johnston: a Grammy Award-winning songwriter for I Write the Songs, he joined the band on April 9, 1965 after Glen Campbell (who was substituting on stage for the group's chief song writer Brian) decided to embark on a solo career. Johnston's first vocal recording with the Beach Boys was "California Girls."
